Oelwein, Iowa

The community of Oelwein has worked very hard to preserve all the small town values which so many other communities have lost. Most of the classic, old homes are owned by many in the same family for multiple generations. The City of Oelwein has invested millions in its future and it shows in our beautiful downtown.

City Park/Lake Oelwein:
Just two feet behind us the 69 acres City Park which has the 55 acres Lake Oelwein. The park also offers picnic shelters with tables, open play areas, tennis courts, sand volleyball, horseshoe courts, and restroom facilities. Campground facilities include 30 modern RV sites, primitive campsites, private shower facilities, dump station, and public boat access to the lake. Perfect for relaxing, fishing or letting the kids play in the playground.

Fontana Park and Nature Center:
Fontana Park and Interpretive Nature Center, just 3 miles south of the motel, were developed around a 19th century mill site. It also has shelter houses that may be reserved by the public.

This woodland serves as a valuable refuge for a variety of wildlife including deer, raccoon, fox, turkey, ruffed grouse and many species of songbirds.
